The Supreme Court of India issued a notice to the Centre and the Jharkhand state government on Monday concerning a plea for a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Preliminary Examination (JPCS). A bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant, along with Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana, has called for a response from the Union of India, the Jharkhand government, and the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC). Senior advocate Manan Kumar Mishra, representing the petitioner, emphasized the urgency of the inquiry. He pointed out that the plea seeks either a CBI investigation or an independent probe led by a former judge to ensure a credible assessment of the claims made against the JPSC.
The petition was filed by activist Harisharan Devgan, with legal support from advocate Satyam Singh Rajput. Devgan has argued that the situation demands immediate attention due to serious concerns about the examination’s fairness.
