Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti has highlighted a critical disparity between two sets of Generation Z youth in India. During his video address, PM Modi called on the nation to forgive the students who expressed their anger through profanity during a protest at Jantar Mantar. In her rebuttal, Mufti argued that the Kashmiri youth do not require sympathy or charity but rather demand equal opportunities to thrive.
“Hon’ble PM @narendramodi, there are two Gen Zs in India,” Mehbooba Mufti articulated. “One inherited opportunity; the other, in Kashmir, inherited curfews, crackdowns, internet shutdowns, lost classrooms, unemployment, and trauma. Kashmiri youth seek neither sympathy nor charity, only dignity, equal opportunity, political space, and the freedom to dream without fear. If compassion is to define India’s future, let it begin with Kashmir,” she emphasized.
