Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested an alleged criminal on Saturday, recovering an illegal revolver from him in Samba district. The suspect, identified as Munna Singh, hails from Sohal village in Akhnoor and now resides in Samba.
According to police reports, Singh was traveling towards Kikri Morh from Data Talab when a patrolling party noticed him behaving suspiciously near the JDA Colony area of Bari Brahmana. This incident occurred on September 30, 2023.
Upon seeing the police team, Singh attempted to flee but the officers quickly chased him down and apprehended him. During a thorough personal search, authorities recovered a revolver from Singh. They reported that he could not present any valid license or legal documentation allowing him to carry the firearm.
The police spokesperson stated, “We take such violations seriously, and this incident raises concerns about the illegal possession of firearms in the area.”
As a result, the authorities have filed a case under the related provisions of the Arms Act at the Bari Brahmana police station. They emphasized, “Our investigations are ongoing to uncover any potential networks associated with the illegal arms trade.”
