AI-Powered Technologies Enhance Health Access in J&K: LG Sinha

Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha inaugurated the new Centre of Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital today in Qamarwari, Srinagar, highlighting the significant role of technology in enhancing healthcare access.

During the event, LG Sinha stressed the importance of ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare for all, especially in rural and remote regions of Jammu and Kashmir. He urged the medical community to connect specialists with patients in underserved areas.

“Over the past decade, modern technologies have fundamentally transformed the eye care field, offering faster and more accurate diagnoses alongside precise treatments,” said Sinha. He noted that these advancements have not only increased access to care but also enabled personalized treatment solutions for patients.

Highlighting the benefits of AI-powered systems, the Lieutenant Governor remarked, “These systems assist doctors in detecting early signs of diseases and eye-related issues.” He further called upon Dr. Agarwals Eye Centre and similar institutions to leverage these technologies, ensuring that residents of Jammu and Kashmir receive the same quality of care as those in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai.

Sinha took the opportunity to discuss the landmark transformation of Jammu Kashmir’s healthcare landscape in recent years, stating, “Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, we are committed to ensuring every citizen has access to quality healthcare.” The ongoing expansion of both government and private healthcare infrastructure aims to foster a healthy and prosperous future for all citizens.

He also emphasized the need for Dr. Agarwals Eye Centre and other facilities to organize free eye check-up camps across Jammu and Kashmir, particularly targeting rural and border regions. “With a spirit of selfless service, it is vital to serve the community through telemedicine, virtual consultations, and digital examinations,” he added.

Several prominent figures attended the inauguration, including Dr. Ashar Agarwal, Chief Business Officer of Dr. Agarwals Group of Eye Hospitals, along with Dr. Atif Ali Mir, Head of Clinical Services.

In addition, notable attendees included Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Secretary of the Science & Technology Department, and Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Secretary of Health and Medical Education. They joined other dignitaries like Shri Anshul Garg, Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, and Shri Rajiv Pandey, DIG of Central Kashmir Range.

The inauguration of Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital reinforces the commitment to enhance healthcare accessibility across Jammu and Kashmir, particularly through the innovative use of technology.
