Anantnag district witnessed a shocking incident on Monday when a constable was arrested for hitting and injuring a Station House Officer (SHO) with his vehicle. The incident occurred late Sunday evening near the Bijbehara police station in South Kashmir.
Officials confirmed that the incident took place as SHO Majid Ahmad Khan was on duty. The accused, selection-grade constable Khurshid Ahmad Wani, drove recklessly, which led to this serious incident. Eyewitnesses reported that Wani was overspeeding when he struck Khan’s vehicle, resulting in significant injuries to the officer.
Khurshid Ahmad Wani, a resident of Bindoo in the Kokernag area, is the son of Mohd Abdullah Wani. Following the incident, the vehicle involved, bearing registration number JK16A-3739, was promptly seized by authorities.
Officials stated that Wani’s arrest stems from charges related to reckless driving, which escalated into a physical altercation with a fellow officer. Authorities are currently questioning him to ascertain further details about the evening’s events.
