Crime Branch Files Chargesheet in Jammu Visa Fraud Case

The Special Crime Wing (SCW) of the Crime Branch has filed a chargesheet against Kartik Choudhary for allegedly defrauding numerous individuals on the pretext of arranging foreign employment visas. This case came to light through a complaint regarding a Portugal work visa.

Filings took place on Monday at the competent court, where officials submitted a comprehensive list of witnesses and supporting documents. The spokesperson for the Jammu Crime Branch confirmed the details, emphasizing the seriousness of the fraud.

During the preliminary verification phase, investigators identified seven additional complainants. These individuals reported similar grievances, suggesting a pattern of deception by the accused. This prompted the initiation of a formal inquiry into the allegations.

The exhaustive investigation encompassed various aspects, including examination of bank records, cheque details, travel documents, and witness statements. Authorities reviewed electronic evidence and forensic materials to build a solid case. Forensic examinations validated the signatures of the accused against known specimens, bolstering the evidence against Choudhary.

In a related development, the Crime Branch registered another case involving a Srinagar-based company. This case emerged following several complaints about non-execution of Modular Kitchen projects. Residents claimed they suffered financial losses after paying upfront for services that were never delivered.

One complainant from Sainik Colony in Jammu reported being approached by Sajad Ahmad Wani from Choudhary Enterprises Forum in Srinagar, who offered to install a kitchen at his home. A loan of Rs five lakh sanctioned by J&K Bank was transferred to the enterprise. However, the promised work remained unfulfilled despite multiple requests for progress updates.

Officials received two additional complaints with similar facts, reinforcing suspicions regarding a widespread scheme of fraud perpetrated by the enterprise. Preliminary investigations seemed to substantiate the allegations put forth by complainants.

Based on these findings, the Crime Branch filed a formal case under applicable legal sections and has begun further investigations into both incidences.

The Crime Branch’s initiative underscores the necessity for vigilance regarding fraudulent schemes, particularly those linked to overseas employment and renovations. It also highlights the importance of thorough scrutiny and complaints reporting for residents to protect their interests.
