The Indian Air Force (IAF) confirmed significant achievements during Operation Sindoor on Friday. Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh announced that the IAF destroyed 4 to 5 Pakistani fighter jets, likely F-16s, as part of a broader strategy against aerial threats.
In a press conference held in New Delhi, Singh elaborated that the IAF executed precision strikes on several Pakistani airbases. These strikes caused extensive damage to critical military infrastructure, including radars, command centres, runways, and hangars. Notably, a C-130-class transport aircraft and a potential high-value surveillance plane also suffered damage during these operations.
“We struck a large number of their airfields and installations. Radars at four locations, command centres at two sites, and multiple hangars were destroyed. Our evidence confirms one C-130 aircraft being hit, alongside 4 to 5 fighters, most likely F-16s, under maintenance at that time,” Air Chief Marshal Singh stated.
Furthermore, Singh highlighted the strategic effectiveness of newly procured long-range surface-to-air missiles (SAMs). These systems prevented the Pakistan Air Force from conducting operations within their own airspace.
