Congress Leaders Address Voter Adhikar Samelan in Uri

The Congress party made a significant push for voter awareness at the Voter Adhikar Samelan held in Uri, Baramulla district, on Saturday. Key figures including AICC General Secretary Dr. Syed Naseer Hussain, Rajya Sabha MP, and JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra led the event.

The gathering served as a platform to educate citizens on their voting rights. Dr. Hussain emphasized the critical role voting plays in democracy, stating, “Empowering voters is fundamental to ensuring that their voices are heard in the political landscape.” He urged attendees to utilize their rights and participate actively in upcoming elections.

Ex-Minister Taj Mohiuddin organized the event alongside a team of senior leaders. JKPCC’s G.A. Mir, the CLP Leader, also shared his views on enhancing voter engagement. Mir mentioned, “Our mission is to make sure that every eligible voter is aware of their rights and understands the electoral process.”

Prominent local legislators present included former Minister G.M. Saroori, MLA Nizamuddin Bhat, and MLA Irfan Lone, among others. They highlighted the need for unity in ensuring electoral participation while addressing the audience’s concerns.

With Jammu and Kashmir’s unique political history, the Congress party aims to bridge gaps between the electorate and representatives. Senior leader Ab. Raheem Rather remarked, “Voter awareness campaigns like this one are essential in fostering a culture of democracy in our region.”

As political tensions continue to shape the electoral landscape, the Voter Adhikar Samelan sought to reaffirm the Congress party’s commitment to strengthening democracy. Attendees received informational pamphlets outlining voter registration processes and details on upcoming elections.

Voter participation statistics indicate a growing interest among residents of Jammu and Kashmir. In the last elections, the voter turnout reached 57%, a sign that citizens are increasingly eager to take part in shaping their governance.

The Congress party’s initiative in Uri underscores its ambition to lead in voter mobilization, stressing that every vote counts. Leaders reiterated that empowering voters ensures equity and representation in government.

Moving forward, the Congress plans to conduct more events across the region, aiming to engage and inform citizens about their voting rights. This initiative reflects not just a political strategy but a sincere effort to enhance civic participation in Jammu and Kashmir.
