
Lecture on “EAT HEALTHY, STAY HEALTHY” on 5th Day of 7 Day Long Winter Camp held at adopted village Marheen
A Lecture was organized by NSS unit of Government Degree College Marheen on the theme of “EAT HEALTHY, STAY HEALTHY”. On the occasion, Dr Anupama Gupta esteemed Principal of the College was the Chief Guest. The lecture was delivered by Dr Sanjeet Sharma from District Ayush Department Kathua, the speakers highlighted about the negative effects of consuming excess of preserved, processed and packaged food being consumed by the masses. He also motivated the NSS volunteers and other students of the college. He suggested the gathering to avoid food products rich in carbohydrates, Fats, Sodium, Trans Fatty Acids and Additives to maintain a sound health. He stressed upon the usage of homemade and natural products directly procured from the nature like Fresh Vegetables & Fruits, Fresh Chakki Atta and consumption of Millets, which are much beneficial for our digestive and immune system. During the interactive session certain facts regarding consumption of Vanaspati Ghee, Dairy and Bakery Products were discussed. Dr. Namarta also spoke on health and hygiene and also discussed the issues related to female students. On this occasion, free medical check-up was done and free medicine was also provided to the students from Ayush Department.
The entire programme was managed by Dr Arun Dev Singh NSS Programme Officer, Dr Imran Hussain Shah and Dr Shallu and NSS Volunteers of the college. Dr Arun Dev Singh extended his special thanks and gratitude to Dr Sanjeet Sharma and his paramedical staff from Ayush department for sparing time and guiding local people who are residing in the village. The faculty members: Dr Munisha, Dr Barneet, Dr Surbhi, Dr Rajani, Dr Reemi and Prof. Preeti also joined the event.
