LG Manoj Sinha and CM Omar Abdullah Greet on Vijayadashami

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah extended warm greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on October 2, the eve of Vijayadashami and Gandhi Jayanti. Both leaders emphasized the significance of these celebrations, promoting the values of peace, truth, and social harmony.

In his message, the Lieutenant Governor said, “On the joyous occasion of Vijayadashami, I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to all for their happiness, well-being and prosperity. Vijayadashami symbolises the victory of good over evil and righteousness over unrighteousness. May this sacred festival inspire us to work for unity, peace and progress of the country and strengthen our spirit of harmony, brotherhood and oneness.”

As Jammu and Kashmir prepares to celebrate Vijayadashami, Sinha also paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 156th birth anniversary. He stated, “I pay my heartfelt tribute to the Father of the Nation. This is an occasion for all of us to rededicate ourselves to internalize Bapuji’s ideals of peace, non-violence, truth, tolerance, compassion and selfless service. Bapu dedicated his life for India’s freedom, social equity, and rural development. His concept of Swadeshi focused on self-reliance and promoting local production. I appeal to all people to buy Swadeshi products and support local artisans and cottage industries.”

Highlighting Gandhi’s enduring legacy, Sinha added, “On this momentous day, let us pledge to follow the path of truth and non-violence, promote peace and work for building a Viksit Bharat.” His emphasis on self-reliance resonates deeply in today’s socio-economic landscape.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah echoed similar sentiments while sending out his greetings for Vijayadashami. He referred to the festival as a beacon representing the triumph of good over evil, stating, This call to uphold ethical values is crucial as society navigates its challenges.

Abdullah also offered his salutation on Gandhi Jayanti, stating, “Mahatma Gandhi’s timeless teachings of Satya, Ahimsa, peace and humanity hold greater significance in today’s conflict-ridden world. Gandhi Ji waged an unwavering struggle against untouchability, caste discrimination and inequality. His philosophy continues to inspire generations and remains a guiding light for building a tolerant, harmonious and just society.”

He urged the youth to engage with Gandhi Ji’s ideals actively, promoting peace, communal harmony, and brotherhood in their everyday actions.

As both leaders extend their heartfelt greetings, the festival of Vijayadashami and the spirit of Gandhi Jayanti bring a timely focus on values essential for nation-building, community togetherness, and the promotion of equity and peace within society.
