In a significant push for renewable energy, Jammu and Kashmir’s Minister Satish Sharma visited the ‘Tawanai Ghar’ facility in Bemina to explore innovative solar energy solutions. The visit occurred on Thursday, aimed at implementing solar energy projects in Jammu and Kashmir to achieve self-reliance in this vital sector.
Minister’s Vision for Solar Energy in Jammu and Kashmir
During his surprise inspection, Minister Sharma emphasized the need for innovative solar energy solutions that align with the Government’s Mission Solar Energy. This initiative, championed by the Chief Minister, underscores the importance of dedicated efforts from all stakeholders to foster a vibrant renewable energy ecosystem.
Sharma stated, “The Government is committed to making Jammu and Kashmir a model in the adoption of renewable energy technologies. Solar energy has vast potential here, and it is our duty to harness it in a scientific and result-oriented manner.”
Goals of the Solar Energy Initiative
As part of the initiative, the Minister instructed officials to develop comprehensive proposals focusing on various aspects of solar energy adoption. These include:
- Expanding solar installations in government buildings and public institutions.
- Promoting household-level adoption of solar energy through feasible incentives.
- Collaboration with research institutions and private sectors to foster the development of cost-effective solar solutions.
- Ensuring the timely completion of ongoing renewable energy projects under several government schemes.
By implementing these strategies, J&K aims to significantly boost its renewable energy portfolio, making solar energy accessible to a larger population.
Employee Welfare Linked to Efficiency
Aside from focusing on solar energy, Sharma also addressed the workforce concerns within the department. He assured the employees that their grievances would be met with urgency and reiterated the need for a supportive work environment.
Sharma asserted, “Employee welfare is directly linked with efficiency and productivity. The Government stands committed to resolving service-related matters in a time-bound manner.” By fostering a healthy and productive workplace, the department can achieve its objectives more effectively.
Protecting the Ecology of Jammu and Kashmir
Emphasizing the crucial role of renewable energy, Minister Sharma noted that adopting solar energy not only lessens reliance on traditional power sources but also helps protect the delicate ecological balance of Jammu and Kashmir.
“We need to reduce our carbon footprint and work towards a sustainable future,” he added. The transition to renewable energy sources such as solar power aligns with global efforts to combat climate change and promotes a cleaner environment.
Sharma’s call to action urges officials to approach their roles with renewed enthusiasm to ensure that the Chief Minister’s vision of transforming Jammu and Kashmir into a clean energy hub comes to fruition.
Accompanying Sharma were P.R. Dhar, the CEO of JAKEDA, and other senior officers from the Science and Technology Department. Their presence underscores the collaborative effort required to push forward this essential initiative.
