Yoga Competition Promotes Health and Wellness in Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, June 14: The Department of Ayush Kishtwar, in collaboration with the District Administration Kishtwar led by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav, organized a Yoga Competition at the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) today. The event aimed to promote physical and mental well-being through yoga and saw enthusiastic participation from various age groups.

The competition sought to encourage the community to integrate yoga into their daily lives. Participants, under the guidance of a coach from the JK Sports Council, showcased their skills in different yoga postures and sequences. The performances were judged by experienced yoga instructor Rohit Chouhan from the J&K Sports Council. The event featured three categories to ensure inclusive participation.

SSP Kishtwar Abdul Qayoom graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his address, he emphasized the importance of yoga in fostering a healthy lifestyle and reducing stress. He praised the Department of Ayush for its initiative and urged residents to continue practicing yoga regularly.

Dr. Vikram Singh Jamwal, the District Nodal Officer AYUSH Kishtwar, also attended the event. He expressed gratitude to the District Administration for their support and highlighted the benefits of yoga for both physical health and mental clarity. He announced plans for future yoga camps and workshops to further promote wellness in the district.

The winners of the competition were:

Junior Category (below 14): Ritesh Sen (male) and Mysha Fatima (female)
18 Years Category: Akash Sharma and Sanjeevani Sharma
Below 25 Years Category: Simranjeet
They were awarded certificates and medals, with top performers receiving special recognition for their exceptional skills.

The event concluded with a yoga demonstration by a group of students and a vote of thanks from Dr. Atul Gupta, MO.

The Yoga Competition at TRC Kishtwar marks a successful collaboration between the Department of Ayush and the District Administration, underscoring their commitment to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among the residents of Kishtwar.
