NIA Files Charge Sheet Against Mumbai Resident in Pakistan Conspiracy to Honey Trap Indian Navy Personnel

New Delhi, May 17: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a charge sheet against Mumbai resident Amaan Salim Shaikh, a central figure in a conspiracy orchestrated by Pakistani intelligence operatives to honey trap Indian Navy personnel for gathering classified information on defense establishments, according to an official statement released on Friday.

The anti-terror agency submitted a supplementary charge sheet on Thursday in a special NIA court in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, against Shaikh, citing various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

Taking over the case on June 5 last year, the NIA’s investigation revealed that Shaikh, arrested in late 2023, was collaborating with a suspected Pakistani agent named Usman to advance the anti-India conspiracy. Additionally, Shaikh was found to be receiving funds from other suspected Pakistani operatives, including Meer Balaj Khan, Alven, and other individuals, using crypto channels to execute tasks assigned by Pakistani intelligence operatives, the statement explained.

On November 6, 2023, the NIA had previously filed charges against two individuals in connection with the case. The agency continues to pursue further investigations into the matter, which was initially registered in Vijayawada.
