This initiative, coinciding with World Palliative Care Day, attracted around 130 delegates, all aiming to enhance their knowledge and skills in pain management for patients with severe illnesses.<\/p>\n<p>Organized by the Department of Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine, this CME sought to emphasize comprehensive pain management and to improve the quality of life for individuals suffering from cancer and other life-threatening conditions. Attendees included medical consultants, postgraduate residents, and healthcare professionals from both district hospitals and private clinics, facilitating an environment of interdisciplinary learning and experience sharing.<\/p>\n<p>On this occasion, GMC Jammu also inaugurated a dedicated palliative care file, highlighting the necessity for streamlined services in palliative care and encouraging a holistic approach to treating patients facing grave health challenges.<\/p>\n<p>Under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Principal and Dean of GMC Jammu, the workshop featured a team comprising Dr. Rajesh Mahajan, Organising Chairperson; Dr. Madan Katoch, Co-Chairperson; and Dr. Naine Bhadrala, Organising Secretary, among others. This diverse organizing team played a crucial role in the event&#8217;s success.<\/p>\n<p>Participants enjoyed a rich scientific program, which included expert lectures and interactive panel discussions. Key topics covered included pain assessment, effective cancer pain management strategies, proper opioid use, and the significance of compassionate communication. The conference reinforced the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to tackle the physical, emotional, and spiritual suffering of patients.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Jasmine Chaudhary and Dr. Heena Saini effectively facilitated the sessions, promoting active engagement among delegates throughout the day. In addition, a poster competition themed &#8220;The Last Chapter Can Still Be Beautiful&#8221; allowed medical students and residents to creatively express the importance of dignity and compassion during the final stages of life.<\/p>\n<p>As the CME wrapped up, participants left with a renewed commitment to incorporate palliative care practices in their daily medical routines.
