RAMBAN, JULY 08<\/strong>: Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gool, Imtiaz, chaired a crucial Sub-Division Level Disaster Management and Coordination Meeting<\/strong> today to enhance disaster readiness and inter-departmental collaboration. The meeting aimed to ensure efficient relief measures for natural hazards like floods, landslides, and cloudbursts as the monsoon season approaches.<\/p>\n

The meeting attracted a broad spectrum of attendees, including Tehsildar Harjeet Singh, SDPO Kuldeep Raj, and Naib Tehsildar Inktikhab Ahmed. Key officials such as Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO) Sanjay Sharma, AEE Jal Shakti Rakesh Soni, AEE PMGSY Naveed Aslam Khan, AEE PWD Tanveer Ahmed, and representatives from 23 RR Gool, Beacon Mahore, and Batote gathered to discuss disaster preparedness in the sub-division. Officers from Health, Power Development Department (PDD), Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), SDRF, and local police were also present.<\/p>\n

During the session, the SDM reviewed the current disaster management plan<\/strong>, assessing resources including manpower, machinery, and essential commodity stock to handle emergencies. He urged all departments to maintain heightened vigilance as the monsoon season begins, stressing the importance of continuous monitoring in areas vulnerable to landslides and flash floods.<\/p>\n

In his address, the SDM highlighted the need for proactive measures<\/strong> and seamless coordination across agencies to tackle any emergencies. He instructed departments like Jal Shakti, PWD, and PMGSY to pinpoint vulnerable locations and keep restoration teams and equipment on standby for immediate deployment. The Health department received directives to stock adequate medicines and ensure availability of ambulances and medical personnel at Community Health Centre (CHC) Gool and Primary Health Centres (PHCs).<\/p>\n

Further, the FCS&CA department was tasked with maintaining a buffer stock of essential rations to serve the public during natural calamities. The PDD was encouraged to establish contingency plans for power supply to mitigate disruptions.<\/p>\n

The SDM directed Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars<\/strong> to conduct regular inspections of vulnerable areas, update lists of disaster-prone locations, and enhance public awareness regarding safety protocols during disasters. He underscored the significance of community participation, urging locals to spread vital information about safety measures.<\/p>\n

To bolster rescue efforts and evacuation plans, the police force and 23 RR were called upon to provide necessary support. Additionally, representatives from Beacon were instructed to prioritize quick restoration of roads in the event of blockades.<\/p>\n
