Jammu, September 26: Government Medical College (GMC) and Associated Hospitals, Jammu have issued a public advisory for the management of Dengue cases as seasonal fever cases rise in the region.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Key Guidelines for the Public<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Report early: Visit GMC Jammu in case of fever with symptoms such as severe headache, pain behind eyes, joint\/muscle pain, nausea, vomiting, or rashes.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Emergency warning signs: Severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, bleeding, or difficulty breathing require immediate hospitalization.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Adults: Consult GMC Medicine OPD (9 AM\u20132 PM) or GMC Emergency (after 2 PM).<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Children: Consult SMGS Paediatric OPD (9 AM\u20132 PM) or Paediatric Emergency, Ward No. 18 (after 2 PM).<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Hospital Facilities Prepared<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Dedicated wards for adults and children at GMC and SMGS hospitals.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

24×7 laboratory testing available, including:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

NS1 ELISA (within 5 days of fever)<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

IgM ELISA (after 5 days of fever)<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

RT-PCR for advanced, accurate diagnosis<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Complete blood counts and platelet counts<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Platelet stock has been ensured. Transfusion will only be done when medically advised.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Home Management Advice<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Most Dengue cases do not require hospitalization.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Rest, take fluids, and use paracetamol as prescribed.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Monitor symptoms and report to hospital if condition worsens.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Hospital Management Advice<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Follow doctors\u2019 instructions and cooperate with hospital staff.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Do not leave hospital without medical advice.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Avoid demanding platelet transfusion unless recommended by doctors.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Special Advisory for High-Risk Patients<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Patients with diabetes, kidney, or liver diseases must be extra cautious and report to the hospital without delay if fever or other symptoms appear.<\/p>\n
