Jammu, May 28 – Officials reported on Tuesday that forest areas in Kathua and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir have been engulfed by fires, resulting in significant damage to forest wealth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to officials, the fire originated in the Dhara Dogano area of the Basholi belt in Kathua district and quickly spread to nearby regions. Forest department personnel and local residents collaborated on an extensive operation to extinguish the flames, successfully bringing the fire under control after several hours of effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Rajouri district, a fire broke out in the Sawni Sassalkote area and subsequently spread to adjacent areas due to strong winds. Forest department teams, along with the Forest Protection Force, launched a large-scale firefighting operation, which is ongoing as efforts persist to contain the blaze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials noted that certain areas in Rajouri have been grappling with forest fires for the past three days, necessitating continuous efforts to combat them. Despite the severity of the fires, no human casualties have been reported thus far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
