MENDHAR, MAY 13:
Javed Ahmed Rana, Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment, and Tribal Affairs, reaffirmed the importance of lasting peace along the Line of Control (LoC), reminding citizens of the devastating consequences of conflict and the immense relief brought by the Ceasefire Agreement between India and Pakistan.
During an extensive tour of border villages in Mendhar affected by cross-LoC shelling, the Minister expressed solidarity with affected families and assessed damages to property and livestock. He paid heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Balwinder Kour, who lost her life in the recent hostilities.
Accompanied by officers from the Sub-Divisional Administration, the Minister reviewed the measures undertaken for the welfare of affected residents. He was briefed on ongoing relief efforts and relocation strategies implemented to ensure the safety and well-being of border communities.
Minister Rana praised the district administration for its swift and proactive response in evacuating residents to safer locations and mitigating the impact of shelling. He directed the Sub-Divisional Administration to fast-track the processing of compensation cases to ensure timely disbursement of relief to the victims.
“The government under Omar Abdullah’s leadership stands firmly with the people during this time of grief and hardship,” Rana stated. “We are committed to extending all possible support to the affected families.”
Later, he visited Mankote in Mendhar to personally offer condolences to the family of the late Balwinder Kour. “No words can truly console the pain of such a tragic loss,” he said, expressing deep sympathy and assuring continuous government support.
