Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming programme in Vadodara is setting new benchmarks in public engagement, with registration through the digital platform BookMyShow for tomorrow’s event witnessing all seats sold out within an hour. This innovative initiative by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has sparked unprecedented excitement, with over 42,000 applicants left on the waiting list.
The programme will leverage a fully digital entry system. Registered participants will receive a digital M-Ticket containing a secure live QR code for seamless entry verification. The initiative aims to ensure rapid access and efficient crowd management throughout the event.
PM Modi will embark on a tour of Gujarat and Maharashtra on Tuesday, laying foundation stones and inaugurating various development projects valued at over ₹35,000 crore in Vadodara. Among these projects are three critical sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), extending over 326 route kilometres and costing over ₹20,700 crore. These sections include New Sanand to New Makarpura, New Umbergaon to New Saphale, and New Saphale to New JNPT.
Enhancing connectivity is a key theme of the event. The direct connection to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) is set to expedite the movement of EXIM cargo, strengthen links among industrial hubs and ports, reduce logistics costs, and alleviate congestion within Mumbai’s railway network.
The commissioning of these WDFC sections will render the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) operational along its entire length. This dedicated infrastructure will bolster India’s logistics mechanism, improving multimodal transport, shortening transit times, and facilitating easy cargo movement across diverse regions.
During the programme, the Prime Minister will also flag off freight train services from New Sanand (North), New Makarpura, New Umbergaon, and New JNPT, as well as a new passenger service connecting Tanda Road and Vadodara (Pratapnagar). He will dedicate the Jobat to Tanda Road new rail line, enhancing connectivity for remote and tribal areas of Alirajpur.
Additionally, the PM will lay the foundation stone for three major railway projects spanning 329 kilometres and carrying a budget of over ₹9,700 crore. These include the Vadodara-Ratlam third and fourth lines and the gauge conversion project between Miyagam Karjan and Malsar, aimed at enhancing passengers’ and freight capacity while alleviating congestion between Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
The agenda also encompasses laying foundation stones for three National Highway projects estimated at around ₹1,780 crore, including the six-laning of the Kamrej-Chalthan NH-48 section and other infrastructural improvements along NH-48 and NH-53.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate significant Government of Gujarat projects worth approximately ₹2,600 crore. This range includes the Vadodara Urban Development Authority Ring Road Phase II and a 110 MW floating solar project at Kadana Dam, alongside housing initiatives under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and a water-supply scheme for 11 villages in eastern Vadodara.

The 2026 edition centres on the theme “Potential to Impact: Agentic AI, Tokenisation, Quantum – Trusted, Connected, Global Systems for Inclusive Finance.” It aims to harness India’s burgeoning leadership in digital payments and financial inclusion by spotlighting critical technological advancements that promise to yield significant, inclusive outcomes for citizens and economies alike.
