The Special Crime Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir (CBK) conducted house searches at five locations in central Kashmir’s Srinagar and Budgam districts on Saturday. This operation forms part of an ongoing investigation into a land sale cheating case, officials confirmed.
Officials stated that the searches took place in connection to a complaint filed at the Police Station Special Crime Wing, Srinagar. The spokesperson for CBK mentioned, “The Special Crime Wing, Srinagar, of Crime Branch Kashmir is carrying out house searches at five different locations in District Srinagar and Budgam related to an investigation into a cheating case.”
The investigation commenced after a complainant alleged that they were deceived under the guise of purchasing land. The complainant reported that they received land documents that appeared authentic and subsequently paid a large sum of money, only to discover later that the land did not belong to the sellers involved.
“The inquiries substantiated that the land ownership was misplaced, confirming the allegations of fraud,” the spokesperson elaborated. The case highlights ongoing issues related to real estate scams in Jammu and Kashmir, which have affected numerous residents.
The Crime Branch has emphasized its commitment to thoroughly investigate such cases to protect the interests of civilians and uphold the law.
