11 Years of Make in India: PM Modi Celebrates Economic Growth

Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the significant achievements of the ‘Make in India’ initiative during its 11-year anniversary, stating that it has greatly contributed to enhancing the Indian economy and fostering self-reliance.

Speaking on X, PM Modi expressed pride in how 11 years of Make in India has strengthened the country’s economic foundation and boosted Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance). He noted that this initiative has driven innovation and job creation across multiple sectors.

“On this day, eleven years ago, we launched the Make in India initiative to accelerate our growth trajectory and tap into India’s entrepreneurial spirit,” Modi said. He emphasized that the initiative has empowered Indian entrepreneurs, enabling them to make a global impact.

Modi urged for a significant increase in indigenous production across all sectors, reassuring that the government stands committed to working closely with stakeholders. He stressed the importance of developing a truly ‘Swadeshi’ economy in India’s future.

During the celebration, the Prime Minister inaugurated the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show-2025. Addressing attendees, he remarked on the government’s efforts to ease compliance for businesses in India.

“The government places a strong emphasis on Make in India manufacturing. We aspire for everything from chip to ship to be manufactured in India; for this, we are enhancing the ease of doing business,” PM Modi stated. He announced that the government has eliminated over 40,000 compliance requirements and decriminalized more than a thousand laws. “We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with you,” he emphasized to the assembled business leaders and traders.

As the Make in India initiative celebrates its 11-year milestone, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal commended the government’s strides in boosting indigenous defence production.

“Today, the world recognizes India’s robust defence manufacturing capabilities, reflective of the vision set forth by PM Modi and the success of the Make in India initiative,” Goyal posted on X.

In a parallel event, India successfully launched the Intermediate Range Agni-Prime Missile from a rail-based mobile launcher system, demonstrating the country’s advancements in defence technology. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the relevant agencies on this significant achievement.
