Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday reaffirmed that the path of development in Jammu and Kashmir—initiated under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in 2014—will continue undeterred, despite recent provocations. Addressing the people from the sensitive border district of Poonch, Shah issued a firm warning that those who attempt to disrupt India’s peace and progress will face a “strong and decisive” response.
Emphasizing that the recent disturbances had caused only a brief pause, Shah assured that the Union Territory’s growth trajectory would swiftly regain its momentum. He lauded the courage and commitment of India’s armed forces and civil administration, and paid tribute to a senior official who lost his life during the recent India-Pakistan exchange. He also commended the swift evacuation of civilians during the shelling, calling it a testament to the administration’s preparedness and resolve.
